Demos and screen prints

demo for sheep head soldier

Firstly quick select the first image and then inverse it. Then go to Filter, then filter gallery, chose artistic and chose cut out. Then get the brush tool and chose dissolve, then go around the image. Then repeat it on all three images; soldier, sheep and gun.

creating our own

After this demo we created our own by searching for images and texts and combineding them together. We had to make sure it was black and white in preperation for our silk screen, so that involved lowering the brightness and adjusting the contrast. I had to do several times as my image was not originally black.

screen printing

To start with, we took our black and white images to the silk screen room and put them through a photocopier which transfers them on to acetate.

When using the silk screen, we have to put it in the silk screen into the vacuum within a minute or to much light would get onto the silk screen and it wouldnt be usable.

After this, we put our acetate images on the exposure machine with the acetate image face up with silk screen face down. We could then turn the vacuum on to transfer the image to the silk screen.

Next we can then spray the back of silk screen with water for half a minute and then around five minutes on the front until the images come through.

Then we have to wait for it to dry for about twenty minutes.

We can start to produce our piece. Firstly, we have to place news paper down to prevent ink getting on the table and so you can place cup, spoon, squidgy and the paper down on top.

Secondly, we place the printing paper on the newspaper and then place the silk screen face down onto the printing paper.

Then we can chose what colour we want and place the ink on the top of the silk screens image and the use the squidgy to spread the ink down the silk screen and also up the silk screen.

Then when we had finished, we can take the silk screen off and wash it or possibly make other prints with other colours.

I think it went well. My first attempt did turn out well so I decided to do it again but with blue and it turned out unexpectedly well. I didn't expect it to turn out like this but I'm happy with its outcome.

Research

Steam roller warden

I really like this piece and I feel its quite clever. traffic wardens are always being talked about and often get alot . This looks like it is created as if Banksy is get back at the traffic wardens for being petty and taking money for the government.
One nation under CCTV

This piece is a protest against Britain's surveillance and is painted just next to a CCTV camera. This is about how CCTV cameras are constantley being placed around england and that we will always be watched. This piece was created behind a several storie high scaffolding and then he had to leave before being noticed, which makes this piece impressive and because of the scale, really sends out a message to the government.
